Geo. Oliver & Son, established in 1923 by George Oliver, himself the 4th consecutive joiner in the family, previously we were joiners on Makerston Estate, 5 miles east of St.Boswells.

We still work from the same workshop built back in 1923 but with up to date machinery including a 3 axis computer controlled cnc router and a fully tilting spindle moulder, all machinery being run through a dust extraction system to ensure a safe working environment for our work force.

Currently we have a staff of 6 experienced workers

Douglas Oliver - 48 years experience in the building trade, qualified joiner, HNC in building, City & Guilds computer aided design.

Allan Drummond - 19 years experience, qualified in damp proofing, timber preservation and dry rot treatment

Diane Oliver - wife of Douglas, accounts and book keeping

Scott Turnbull - 33 years experience as a qualified joiner

Mark Davis - 39 years experience as a qualified joiner

Grant Arnot - 2nd year apprentice

The future of joinery meets the old.

Our 3 axis cnc which is used to manufacture cupboards and units as well as hardwood signs

The moulding planes are still used to match traditional mouldings

Our new Felder planner/ thicknesser and bandsaw have replaced the old universal machine and give a much higher finish
